In alignment with the National Science and Technology Council’s (NSTC) policy to strengthen Taiwan’s core research capacity, the Outstanding Research Leadership Program aims to provide appropriate resources to leading research groups and emerging mid-career research teams in the fields of natural sciences and sustainable development. The program is designed to help research teams further strengthen their areas of expertise and develop key technologies, thereby advancing academic research and enhancing international competitiveness.

For integrated research projects, the Program Principal Investigator (Program PI) must compile the overall project proposal and all subproject proposals into a single document and submit the application on behalf of the entire research team. The project period will begin in August 2027 and may last for up to four years. This program is classified as a special-purpose research project. Appeals regarding applications that are not approved for funding will not be accepted.

Applicants who wish to apply must complete and submit the online application by the KMU internal deadline of 5:00 p.m. on December 9, 2026, and simultaneously notify the Office of Research and Development so that the applications can be compiled and officially submitted to the NSTC.
