This program explores potential new forms of interaction, collaboration, and perceptual experiences that may emerge as emerging technologies become integrated into everyday life from the perspectives of the social sciences and humanities, design, and user behavior. Building on this research foundation, the program further seeks to anticipate future trends in chip specifications and technological development.

Project teams may adopt interdisciplinary approaches, drawing on the social sciences and humanities, design, the arts, engineering, natural sciences, and other fields. Through future scenario development and foresight design methods, such as speculative design and critical design, teams are encouraged to develop concepts for interactive prototypes and produce scenario simulations and demonstrations that illustrate how emerging technologies may shape future lifestyles and changes in human behavior.

Proposed research projects must align with the objectives of this program. For detailed information on the research themes and key tasks, please refer to the official call for proposals. Research proposals should be prepared in accordance with the NSTC Directions for the Implementation of Research Project Grants. When submitting an application, applicants should select “General-Oriented Project Research” under the project category and “HZZ23 – Humanities for Semiconductor Innovation” under the academic field code.

Applicants are requested to complete the online application and submit all required documents by the university internal deadline of 5:00 p.m. on October 27, 2026, and copy the Office of Research and Development on the submission to facilitate compilation and forwarding to the NSTC.
